Biography

Fifty Foot Hose was an American psychedelic rock band formed in San Francisco in 1967. The original lineup included Louis "Cork" Marcheschi on bass, David Blossom and Nancy Blossom on guitar and vocals respectively, Kim Kimsey on drums, and Larry Evans on guitar. Influenced by avant-garde composers, Marcheschi created custom electronic instruments. The band released their debut album Cauldron in 1967 via Limelight Records, featuring songs such as "Fantasy" and a cover of Billie Holidayâs "God Bless the Child". Despite limited commercial success, the group built a devoted local following and shared bills with Blue Cheer, Chuck Berry, and Fairport Convention. The band disbanded in late 1969. In the 1990s, interest resurfaced, leading to reissues of their work and live performances by Marcheschi with new musicians, resulting in albums like Live & Unreleased (1997) and Sing Like Scaffold (1998).
