Biography
Fat Mattress was an English rock band formed in Folkestone in 1968 by guitarist and vocalist Noel Redding, who was also a member of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Their debut album, Fat Mattress, released in 1969 under Polydor Records, featured the hit single "Magic Forest". The band opened for The Jimi Hendrix Experience on a U.S. tour and performed at notable events such as the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969. Internal conflicts led to Redding's departure during the recording of Fat Mattress II, released in 1970, and the band disbanded midway through recording their third album. The band released recordings post-split, including compilation albums The Black Sheep Of The Family - The Anthology (2000) and Magic Forest: The Anthology (2006).
