Annika Henderson, known professionally as Anika, was born on February 6, 1987, in Surrey, England. She is a British and German singer-songwriter, musician, political journalist, and poet who grew up speaking English and German. Before her singing career, Anika worked as a music promoter in Cardiff and a political journalist for ESNA European Higher Education News in Berlin. Her breakthrough came when she met producer Geoff Barrow, leading to the recording of her self-titled debut album Anika in 2010. The album, released by Invada Records in Europe and Stones Throw Records in the US, featured covers such as "Yang Yang" by Yoko Ono and "End of the World" by Skeeter Davis. Notable tracks from this period include "No One's There" (2011). In 2016, Anika formed Exploded View with local musicians in Mexico City, releasing their self-titled debut album. Her second solo album, Change, was released in 2021 to positive reviews.
