Biography

New York-based rap artist Fabolous was born John Jackson in Brooklyn in 1977. Jackson began his professional career whilst still at high school and appeared in a number of live performances with DJ Clue?, a local record producer who ran his own radio show. Jackson signed a record deal with Desert Storm and released his debut album 'Ghetto Fabolous' in 2001. The album spawned two hit singles 'Can't Deny It' and 'Young'n (Holla Black)' and reached number four in the Billboard 200. The album established Jackson as one of the leading rap artists to emerge from New York at the turn of the new century and by 2003 had sold over one million copies. A string of hits followed and during this period Jackson also appeared on a number of R&B singles including 'Dip It Low' with Christina Milan and 'Addiction' by Ryan Leslie. Jackson's career appeared to peak in 2009 with the release of his fifth album 'Loso's Way'. The album debuted at number one in the Billboard 200 and was the first album released by the artist to top the charts but subsequent record releases by Jackson have failed to achieve the same commercial success.
