Eva-Maria Hagen (born Eva-Maria Buchholz; 1934â2022) was a German chanson and pop singer, actress, painter, and author from Költschen. She trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and debuted at the Berliner Ensemble in 1953. Hagen began her film career with VergeÃt mir meine Traudel nicht (1957) and was referred to as the âBrigitte Bardot of the GDRâ. Following her protest against the expatriation of her partner, Wolf Biermann, her citizenship was revoked in 1977, and she relocated to West Germany with her daughter, Nina Hagen.Hagen released several albums, including Ich leb' mein Leben (1981) and Wenn ich erstmal losleg⦠(1996). Her television career included roles in the series Stubbe â Von Fall zu Fall and Pfarrer Braun. In 1999, she received the Carl Zuckmayer Medal. Hagen died in Hamburg on August 16, 2022.
