Biography

Estrellas de Areito was a Cuban musical ensemble that formed in 1979. The ensemble involved over thirty Cuban musicians, including Rubén González, Richard Egües, Félix Chappotín, and Paquito D’Rivera. They are famous for exploring the roots of Afro-Cuban music and for recording tracks with durations often exceeding ten minutes. The group produced a series of five albums for the state company Egrem. Their discography includes the studio recording Los Heroes (1998), which featured recordings from 1979 including the tracks “Póngase para las cosas” and “Hasta Pantoja baila mi son”.
