Biography

Estrellas de Areito was a Cuban musical ensemble that formed in 1979. The ensemble involved over thirty Cuban musicians, including RubÃ©n GonzÃ¡lez, Richard EgÃ¼es, FÃ©lix ChappotÃn, and Paquito DâRivera. They are famous for exploring the roots of Afro-Cuban music and for recording tracks with durations often exceeding ten minutes. The group produced a series of five albums for the state company Egrem. Their discography includes the studio recording Los Heroes (1998), which featured recordings from 1979 including the tracks âPÃ³ngase para las cosasâ and âHasta Pantoja baila mi sonâ.
