Biography

Espen Lind, born 13 May 1971 on Tromsø Municipality, Tromsøya, is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, composer, producer and guitarist whose career began in the mid‑1990s with the 1995 solo release Mmm…Prepare to Be Swayed under the moniker “Sway”; the album sold roughly 5,000 copies in Norway and was followed by the 1997 hit single "When Susannah Cries", which reached Number 1 in Norway for six weeks and charted in several European and Latin American markets. Espen Lind’s second studio effort, Red (1998), sold over 100,000 copies domestically and 350,000 worldwide, earning him three Spellemannprisen awards in 1998, including Artist of the Year. In 2000 he released This Is Pop Music, featuring the duet "Where the Lost Ones Go" with Sissel Kyrkjebø, and in 2005 the album April followed the single "Million Miles Away". The 2006 live recording Hallelujah saw Espen Lind collaborate with Kurt Nilsen, Alejandro Fuentes and Askil Holm, while his 2008 studio album Army of One included the single "Scared of Heights". Espen Lind’s production partnership with Amund Bjørklund as Espionage yielded international hits for artists such as Beyoncé’s "Irreplaceable" and Train’s "Hey, Soul Sister". In 2025 he composed and produced the soundtrack for the TV series Requiem for Selina, and in 2026 he released a series of singles for the Norwegian TV series Hver gang vi møtes, including "Sangen om mitt liv" and "Hjemme", marking a continued presence in the Norwegian and international music scenes.
