Biography
Ensign is an American hardcore punk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Formed in 1995, the group originally consisted of drummer Chris Ross, bassist Walt Svekla and guitarist John Fraunberger. Singer Tim Shaw joined the ensemble shortly after its formation. The band released its self-titled debut EP, Ensign, in 1996 through Indecision Records. This was followed by the EP Fall from Grace (1997) and their first studio album, Direction of Things to Come (1997). After signing with Nitro Records in 1998, the group issued the album Cast the First Stone in 1999. Their subsequent recordings included the studio album The Price of Progression (2001). In 2003, the ensemble released the covers album Love the Music, Hate the Kids, which featured versions of songs by artists including Bad Brains and Descendents. The group has toured internationally across Europe and the United Kingdom.
