Biography

Ensemble Resonanz, a German string ensemble, was founded in 1994 by members of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. Initially based in Frankfurt and Diez an der Lahn, the group moved to Hamburg in 2002, where it became Ensemble in Residence at the Laeiszhalle – Musikhalle Hamburg. The ensemble is known for combining contemporary music with classical repertoire and blending traditional chamber music with modern club culture. Notable collaborations include partnerships with artists such as Jean-Guihen Queyras, Tabea Zimmermann, Emilio Pomàrico, and Riccardo Minasi. Ensemble Resonanz has performed at prestigious venues like the Salzburg Festival, RuhrTriennale, and Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Their discography includes albums such as Mozart: Symphonies No. 36 "Linz" & 38 "Prague" (2023) and Beethoven: Klavierkonzerte No. 4 op. 58 & N0. 6 op. 61a (2021). The ensemble has received awards including the Würth-Preis der Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland in 2002 and the Rudolf Stilcken Preis für Kultur-Kommunikation.
