Biography
Ensemble Clément Janequin, founded in 1978 in France, is a music ensemble specializing in Renaissance and early Baroque chansons. The group was established by countertenor Dominique Visse, who served as its leader. Ensemble Clément Janequin began recording exclusively for the Harmonia Mundi label under Bernard Coutaz. In 1985, their lineup included notable vocalists such as Josep Cabré, Philippe Cantor, Michel Laplénie, Gérard Lesne, Agnès Mellon, and Antoine Sicot. The ensemble's discography includes Desprez: Missa Pange Lingua (1986) and Laussus: Chansons & Moresche (1992). They have also recorded works by composers such as Le Jeune and Heinrich Schütz, collaborating with ensembles like Les Saqueboutiers de Toulouse. In 2009, they released "L'écrit du Cri", featuring compositions from the 19th century to contemporary pieces. The ensemble has made significant contributions to the preservation and performance of early music, earning a reputation for their meticulous interpretations and historical accuracy.
