German singer Anne-Marie Emilie Vallerie Intsiful, aka Emily Intsiful, jumped into the limelight in 2013 on the music reality show The Voice of Germany. Born in Cologne in 1991 to Ghanaian and Liberian parents, Intsiful taught herself how to play the piano from an early age and took part in the 2010 Jugend Musiziert contest, where she finished up in third place. After graduating from high school, she furthered her music studies at Upper Bavariaâs Altötting and led the vocal ensemble at the Max Keller vocational school for music. In 2013, Instiful participated in the third season of the talent show The Voice of Germany, reaching the semifinals with a rendition of Sophie Hungerâs âWalzer für Niemand,â which was later released as a single and peaked at Number 66 on the German chart. Preceded by the singles âCiao,â âKinder dieser Erde,â and âDein Licht,â her studio debut Tagebuch saw the light in 2019. A few years later, Intsifulâs rendition of Corinne Bailey Raeâs âPut Your Records Onâ helped her land a spot on the 18th season of the music reality show Deutschland sucht den Superstar, broadcast in 2021.
