Emeralds, an American electronic music trio consisting of John Elliott, Steve Hauschildt, and Mark McGuire, was formed in 2006. The band originated from Cleveland, Ohio, where the members began playing together under the name Fancelions before re-forming as Emeralds in June 2006. The band gained significant recognition with the release of Does It Look Like I'm Here? in 2010 on Editions Mego, which received critical acclaim, including Best New Album from Pitchfork Media and Album of the Year from Drowned in Sound. Emeralds performed at notable festivals such as All Tomorrow's Parties and opened for acts like Throbbing Gristle and Caribou. In January 2013, the band announced that McGuire had left the band. Hauschildt left a few weeks later, effectively disbanding the group.
