Biography
Emerald Web was an American musical duo formed in 1978 by Bob Stohl and Kat Epple. The couple met at a jam session at the University of Florida and later relocated to Connecticut. They incorporated synthesizers into their music after purchasing an Electronic Music Labs SynKey 2001, releasing early albums Dragon Wings and Wizard Tales (1979) and Whispered Visions (1980). In 1980, they moved to San Francisco, setting up a home recording studio and establishing Stargate Records. Notable releases include Lights of the Ivory Plains (1984), the Grammy-nominated Catspaw (1986), and Manatee Dreams of Neptune (1990). Emerald Web composed music for television soundtracks, winning several Emmy Awards. The duo's partnership ended with Stohl's accidental death by drowning in March 1990.
