Emilio Navaira, born on August 23, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, was a singer-songwriter. He began his music career at 21, singing lead vocals for David Lee Garza y Los Musicales. In 1987, he formed Emilio y Grupo Rio and signed with Columbia Records. His breakthrough came with the album Life is Good, which included the country hit "It's Not the End of the World" reaching number 27 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts in late 1995. Emilio transitioned to country music, releasing several albums. His 2002 album Acuérdate won the Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album. On May 16, 2016, Emilio was found dead in his New Braunfels home at the age of 53 due to natural causes.
