Gino &â¯Geno are a foundational Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 1970, consisting of Sebastião âGinoâ Ribeiro de Almeida and Geraldo/Mauro âGenoâ Gonçalves Pereira. They first rose to prominence in the early 1970s with traditional sertanejo and country-influenced hits like âAs Ãguas do São Franciscoâ (1982), cementing their status with albums such as Irmãos Boiadeiros (1972), Serra da Mantiqueira (1978), and O Sorriso da Mulher Goiana (1980). After a quieter period during the 1990s, they returned triumphantly in 2000 with Coração Cigano, produced by Rick of Rick &â¯Renner, rekindling their signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and dance-ready rhythms. Their 2002 single âEla Chorou de Amorâ became a staple on Brazilian radio, followed by high-energy live recordings like Gino &â¯Geno Ao Vivo (2004) and Aâ¯Galera do Chapéu: Ao Vivo (2006), which showcased their showmanship. In 2016, they released their 26th studio album, Tô Bonito ou Não Tô?, while a lineup change in 2019âwelcoming Mauro Avante as Genoâled to fresh singles like âCuiabana,â âMinha Fonte,â and âVai Morrer Bebendo.â
