Biography

Else Marie Pade, born on December 2, 1924, in Aarhus, Denmark, was a Danish composer. She began her musical journey as a pianist at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and later studied composition with Vagn Holmboe and Jan Maegaard. Pade's breakthrough came in 1954 when she became the first Danish composer of electronic and concrete music, inspired by Pierre Schaeffer and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Her early works include "A Day at Dyrehavsbakken" (1955) and Symphonie magnétophonique (1958-1959). Throughout her career, Pade released several albums, including Et Glasperlespil (2001), Face It (2002), Aquarellen Über Das Meer; Illustrations (2009), and Svævninger (2013). Pade passed away on January 18, 2016.
