Biography
Elizabeth Shepherd, born in 1977, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, pianist, and producer. She studied classical piano at conservatories in Canada and France before earning a degree in jazz piano from McGill University in Montreal. In 2004, she moved to Toronto, where she began performing at a local piano bar and formed the Elizabeth Shepherd Trio with Scott Kemp and Colin Kingsmore. Her debut album, Start to Move (2006), received a Juno Award nomination in 2007. Her subsequent albums included Besides (2007), Parkdale (2008), Heavy Falls the Night (2010), Rewind (2012), The Signal (2014), and Montréal (2019). The single âSeven Bucksâ from her 2010 album reached number 37 on the Tokio Hot 100 chart. In 2023, she released Three Things, an album combining soulful sounds and synth-based electronica. Throughout her career, she performed at international jazz clubs and shared the stage with artists including Jamie Cullum and Bonobo.
