Elisabeth Norberg-Schulz, born on January 27, 1959, in Oslo, Norway, is a Norwegian-Italian opera lyric soprano singer. In 1974, Norberg-Schulz enrolled at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome as a piano student. The following year, she was admitted to the singing department, where she studied under Rosina Vedrani Laporta. Norberg-Schulz's career included performances in leading opera houses worldwide, such as La Scala and the New York Metropolitan Opera. She portrayed principal roles like Adele in Die Fledermaus and Adina in Adina. Her concert repertoire featured works with notable orchestras under conductors, including Claudio Abbado and Sir Georg Solti. Norberg-Schulz received several awards, including the Grieg Prize in 1993, the Minerva Prize in 2004, and the Verdi Prize in 2006. She was made a Knight of the Order of St. Olav by King Harald V of Norway in 2004 and a Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Giorgio Napolitano in 2006. Her recordings include Mozart's Great Mass in C Minor K. 427 and Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, which won a Grammy Award.
