Eliana Pittman, born Eliana Leite da Silva on August 14, 1945 in Brazil, was a singer and actress. Her stepfather, jazz saxophonist Booker Pittman, played a pivotal role in her musical development as her first teacher and mentor. Pittman's breakthrough came with the release of "Tristeza" in 1966, which earned her immediate recognition across South America. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, she released several albums including Eliana & Booker Pittman (1963), à Preciso Cantar (1966), and Positivamente, Eliana (1968). Her distinctive voice and scat singing style transformed light pop into jazz-based treatments. Pittman toured extensively, performing in Brazil, Italy, France, Japan, the US, Spain, and Venezuela. In 2001, she resumed touring from Rio de Janeiro, alternating between reclusive periods and acting roles on television. Notable film appearances include Run for Your Life (1966) and Jubiabá (1986).
