Eldridge Holmes was an American New Orleans R&B, soul, and funk singer born in 1942 in Violet, Louisiana. He recorded throughout the 1960s and into the 1970s, initially recording with producer Allen Toussaint in a traditional New Orleans R&B style on singles such as "Poor Me" and "The Sooner You Realize". Holmes progressed to soul and funk genres, releasing notable tracks like "Gone Gone Gone", "Hump Back", and "Pop Popcorn Children". Despite achieving some national label releases, Holmes never cracked the R&B charts. He stopped recording by the mid-1970s and died on November 13, 1998.
