El Sueño de Morfeo was formed in Asturias, Spain, in 2002 by vocalist Raquel del Rosario, guitarist Juan Luis Suárez, and guitarist David Feito, all of whom had been active in local bands before joining forces. The group gained early exposure through the television series Los Serrano, where their Celticârock cover of Fran Pereaâs "1+1 Son 7" attracted attention from the label Globomedia Música; this led to the release of their debut single "Nunca Volverá" in 2005 and the selfâtitled album El Sueño de Morfeo on 10 March 2005, which achieved platinum status in Spain. In 2007 the band issued Nos Vemos en el Camino on 17 April, which was certified gold and later platinum, and included hits such as "Para Toda la Vida" and "Demasiado Tarde". The 2009 album Cosas que Nos Hacen Sentir Bien, released on 26 May, reached number three on the Spanish charts and earned a gold certification; singles "Si No Estás" and "Gente" were used in national advertising campaigns. In 2012 the group released Buscamos Sonrisas, produced by Thom Russo, and in 2013 they represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest with "Contigo Hasta el Final", finishing 25th. After a brief hiatus, the band announced a split in 2014, concluding a decadeâlong career marked by multiple chart successes and international touring.
