El Parque, a Costa Rican rock group from San José, was formed in December 1992 by guitarist Inti Picado and drummer Federico Dörries. In October 1993, bassist Bernardo Trejos and vocalist Paul Jiménez joined, solidifying the lineup. Their breakthrough came in early 1994 with "Laura", a finalist in the Yamaha Music Quest Costa Rica. The band's debut album, Hombre azul (1994), became one of the first CDs recorded by a Costa Rican rock group. El Parque gained international recognition through tours across Central America and Mexico. In 1995, they recorded their second album, Entre sangre y arena, released in 1996. The band disbanded in 1998 due to internal issues but reunited in 2005 and continued releasing albums, including El Parque (2009) and Melico (2010).
