Eilen Jewell, born April 6, 1979, in Boise, Idaho, is an American songwriter and country and roots rock musician. Jewell began performing during studies at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After moving to Los Angeles, Jewell became a prominent figure in the Venice Beach music scene. In the fall of 2003, Jewell relocated to Cambridge, Massachusetts, joining the local folk and roots music community. The debut album, Boundary County (2005), was followed by Letters from Sinners & Strangers (2007), which reached number 10 on the Americana Weekly Radio charts. Other albums include Sea of Tears (2009), Butcher Holler â A Tribute to Loretta Lynn (2010), Queen of the Minor Key (2011), Sundown over Ghost Town (2015), Down Hearted Blues (2017), Gypsy (2019), and Get Behind the Wheel (2023). Jewell toured extensively across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
