Eugenia Gail Kight, known as EG Kight, was born on January 17, 1966, in Dublin, Georgia. She began playing guitar at age five and initially performed country music before transitioning to blues after hearing a recording by Koko Taylor. By her mid-teens, Kight was a professional musician focusing on Chicago blues. In 1989, she appeared regularly on the television program Nashville Now and toured extensively in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her debut album, Come Into the Blues, was released in 1997. Kight received several nominations for Blues Music Awards in categories including Contemporary Female Artist and Song of the Year.
