Biography
Edhiii Boi (stylised as edhiii boi), born Uchino Sota on January 18, 2007, is a Japanese rapper and songwriter. Growing up in Hyogo prefecture, edhiii boi was inspired to become an artist after watching a video by K-Pop group BIGBANG. He started taking dance lessons and imitating their rapping style, eventually writing his own lyrics and taking rapping more seriously after meeting a local Kobe rapper who invited him to record his own songs. Winning an award for best male debut at the 2018 Kirachare Awards, it was his audition for Japanese rapper SKY-HI's reality music competition THE FIRST in 2021 that led to his big break. Although he was eliminated from the show, he was offered a contract after sending SKY-HI recordings of his original music and in January 2022, made his solo debut under BMSG with his first digital single, "NO". He followed this with "118," featuring Japanese performers Novel Core and SOTA, and was announced as a guest for THE FIRST FINAL concert later that month. In March, he released his third digital single, "Forever Friend", collaborating with singers RUI and TAIKI in July on a split EP titled 15th Dream. As his career continued to gain momentum, edhiii boi announced in January 2023, that his first album, edhiii boi is here, would be released later that year with lead single, "Flower", appearing on March 1.
