Biography
Founded by powerhouse vocalist and pianist Margarita Monet (born on February 15, 1990) and guitarist Dave Bates (born on January 20, 1974), symphonic metal mainstays Edge of Paradise first formed in 2011. The Armenia-born Monet spent her childhood in Russia and moved to Texas aged 11. In 2010, her paths crossed with Bates in LA while the pair happened to be working on the same music production job. For their debut album Mask, released in September 2011, the duo welcomed bassist Tony Franklin (Lana Lane, Quiet Riot) and drummer Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth) into the fold. The Perfect Shade of Black EP arrived in 2013 and a second album, Immortal Waltz, followed in 2015. Produced and recorded by rock maestro Michael Wagener, the hard rockersâ second LP featured bass guitar from Nick Ericson and drums from John Chominsky. In 2017, Edge of Paradise recruited guitarist David Ruiz and released the Alive EP. 2018 revealed a new lineup featuring the additions of bassist Vanya Kapetanovic and drummer Jimmy Lee, and the five-piece released their third album Universe the following year.
