Biography
The Dark Element is a Swedish/Finnish symphonic metal band formed in 2017, featuring former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon and former Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani Liimatainen. The project was initiated when Frontiers Records offered Liimatainen the opportunity to record and publish a new album with Olzon as the lead vocalist. Their debut self-titled album The Dark Element was released on November 10, 2017, featuring bassist Jonas Kuhlberg and drummer Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula. The band's first live performance took place at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 7, 2018. Their second album, Songs the Night Sings, was released on November 8, 2019, with new drummer Rolf Pilve. Notable singles include "The Dark Element", "My Sweet Mystery" and "Dead to Me" from their debut album, as well as "Songs the Night Sings" and "Not Your Monster" from their second album.
