Biography
Edwin Jobson, born on April 28, 1955, in Billingham, County Durham, England, is a British keyboardist and violinist who began piano at seven and violin at eight, earning a Diploma of Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music. After early shows with Fat Grapple, he joined Curved Air in 1972, replacing Darryl Way, and in 1973 replaced Brian Eno in Roxy Music, contributing to three studio albums and the live Viva! release. In 1976 he joined Frankâ¯Zappaâs band, appearing on the live album Zappa in Newâ¯York (1978). He coâfounded the supergroup U.K. in 1977, releasing UK, Danger Money and the live Night After Night before the group disbanded in 1980. Eddie Jobsonâs solo debut The Green Album (1983) and Theme of Secrets (1985) marked a shift to newâage styles. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Progressive Music Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Roxy Music in 2019.
