Founded in Wroclaw, Poland, Electro-Acoustic Beat Sessions â better known as EABS â is a jazz band inspired by hip-hop and electro music. The origins of the band began during improvisational sessions at a club called Puzzle in Wroclaw. Influenced by artists such as Ahmad Jamal, Sun Ray, Gil Scott-Heron, Jay Dee, and Pete Rock, the members of the band came together with one musical mission in mind: the âreconstruction of deconstructionâ. EABSâ sound is based on a jazz foundation but their sound is equally influenced by hip-hop and electronic music yet played with acoustic instruments. EABS also use a turntablist, Spisek Jednego (Night Marks Electric Trio), who adds the âelectricâ element to their sound (and band name). The bandâs first release was the limited 2016âs cassette-only Puzzle Mixtape. Their first official album was 2017âs Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda), a tribute to the Polish pianist and composer. The following year, they released a vinyl-only live release that featured the band performing the Repetitions album. This was followed by another vinyl-only release, Kraksa/Svantetic. Their next studio release was Slavic Spirits (2019), an album inspired by Slavic mythology and Polish demonology. They gained a lot of international attention with their 2020 release, Discipline of Sun Ra, which featured music composted by Sun Ra between 1954 and 1979 and reimagined by EABS.
