Biography

Richard Royall "Duck" Baker IV, born July 30, 1949, in Washington, D.C., is an American acoustic fingerstyle guitarist known for his versatility across jazz, blues, and folk genres. As a teenager, Baker played in rock bands before transitioning to acoustic blues and jazz, influenced by artists such as Thelonious Monk and Buck Evans. His debut album There's Something for Everybody in America was released on Kicking Mule Records in 1975. During the late 1970s, he lived in Europe, performing and collaborating with musicians including Eugene Chadbourne. He returned to the United States in the 1980s and continued his career, releasing albums such as A Thousand Words (1992) and Opening the Eyes of Love (1996).
