Biography
Brother Phelps was an American country music duo formed in 1992 in Edmonton, Kentucky. The ensemble consisted of brothers Ricky Lee Phelps and Doug Phelps, both of whom had previously achieved significant success as members of the Southern rock band the Kentucky Headhunters. Seeking a more traditional country sound, the brothers left their former group and signed with Asylum Records. They achieved a major breakthrough in 1993 with their debut single, âLet Goâ, which reached number 6 on the Billboard country charts. This was followed by their debut studio album, also titled Let Go, released later that same year. In 1995, the duo issued their second and final studio album, Anyway the Wind Blows, which featured a title track cover of a J.J. Cale song. Between 1993 and 1995, the ensemble charted a total of six singles, including the top 40 hit âWere You Really Livin'â. The duo disbanded in 1995, after which Doug Phelps rejoined the Kentucky Headhunters as lead vocalist and Ricky Lee Phelps retired from his musical career.
