Biography

The Dresdner Kammerchor is a mixed chamber choir founded in 1985 in Dresden, Germany, by conductor Hans-Christoph Rademann. Rademann established the ensemble while studying at the Musikhochschule Dresden, recruiting fellow music students to form the core of the group. The choir's repertoire includes court music written for the Dresden court under Augustus the Strong and Frederick Augustus II, Romantic choral works, and contemporary classical compositions. The ensemble's discography includes the albums Weihnachten (2002) and O Heilige Nacht (2015). Between 2011 and 2019, the choir recorded the first complete recording of the works of composer Heinrich Schütz, which includes the album Auferstehungshistorie (2014). The choir's achievements include the 2005 German Record Critics' Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) for their recording of Johann Adolf Hasse's Requiem, and the annual prize from the same association in 2016 for Schütz's Johannespassion. In 2020, their recording Psalmen & Friedensmusiken received the Opus Klassik award for Editorial Achievement of the Year.
