Sparta is an American rock band formed in 2001 in Elâ¯Paso, Texas, by vocalist and guitarist Jimâ¯Ward, bassist Mattâ¯Miller, and drummer Tonyâ¯Hajjar, all formerly of Atâ¯theâ¯DriveâIn. The group released the Austere EP in Aprilâ¯2002, followed by the debut album Wiretapâ¯Scars in Augustâ¯2002, which included the single "Cut Your Ribbon". In Octoberâ¯2004 they issued Porcelain, and in Februaryâ¯2007 the album Threes brought the single "Taking Back Control". After a hiatus in 2008, Sparta returned in 2011 and released Trustâ¯theâ¯River in Aprilâ¯2020, featuring "Believe" and "Miracle". The bandâs fifth studio effort, Sparta, was issued in Octoberâ¯2022, produced as a duo with Jimâ¯Ward and Mattâ¯Miller. Sparta toured extensively with acts such as Pearlâ¯Jam, Incubus, and Myâ¯Chemicalâ¯Romance, and their music appeared in film and videoâgame soundtracks, including The Invisible and Maddenâ¯NFLâ¯07. In 2026, the band released their sixth studio full-length, Cut a Silhouette.
