Biography
Don Woody is an American rockabilly drummer and comedian. He began his career as a disc jockey in junior high school and performed comedy routines at local clubs while also playing drums in his high school band. After attending Southwest Missouri State University, Woody recorded six sides in the late 1950s with Decca Records, including âBarking Up the Wrong Treeâ and âBird Dog.â In 1958, he founded Arco Records to release a follow-up single. Woody retired from the music industry in 1961 to work in retail management, but his Decca and Arco recordings were later compiled on albums such as That'll Flat Git It! Volumes 2 and 6 and The Chicken Are Rockin', Volume 2. He returned to performing in 2007 at the Viva Las Vegas rockabilly festival and has appeared at rockabilly festivals in Europe and the United States.
