Biography

Dmitry Albertovitch Yablonsky, born in 1962 in Moscow, Russian Federation, is a cellist and conductor. He entered the Central School of Music at age six and made his orchestral debut at nine with Joseph Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1. After studying under Stefan Kalianov and Isaak Bouravski, Yablonsky left the Soviet Union to study at the Juilliard School of Music and Yale University in 1977. His career as a cellist included performances at Carnegie Hall and La Scala. As a conductor, he has led orchestras worldwide, including the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic. Yablonsky's discography includes over 70 recordings for labels like Naxos and Erato-Warner, with notable works such as Shostakovich: Jazz Suites Nos. 1 & 2 (2002) and Rachmaninov: Symphony No. 2 - Vocalise (2011).
