Biography

Jon Cutler (born 1969 in Brooklyn, New York, United States) is an American house DJ who began performing at age 15 and later studied photography at the School of Visual Arts before returning to music full‑time. He launched his own Distant Music label in 1997, issuing 12‑inch remixes that established his presence in the house scene. In 2001 he produced "It's Yours" featuring E‑Man for Chez Music, which reached Number 38 on the UK Singles Chart, and the track was later sampled by Mat Zo in 2012. Cutler’s debut studio album, Watcha Gonna Do, was released on 18 July 2005, followed by It's Yours on 11 July 2008, and the compilation Distant Music, Vol. 1 – A Compilation Of Past & Present on 8 June 2010. His work appeared on the 2004 compilation Afterdark: New York City, which peaked at number 23 on the U.S. Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart, underscoring his continued influence in the electronic music landscape.
