Biography

Tchakabum is a Brazilian group formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1998 by brothers Marcelo and Nem Menezes, who served as lead vocalists, and dancer Gracyanne Barbosa. The trio debuted with the single “Tesouro de Pirata (Onda Onda)” in ~2001, following earlier releases such as “Lentamente” in 2018. Their discography began with the studio album Avião in 1999, followed by Explosão in 2003 and live recordings such as Ao Vivo in 2002. The group’s breakthrough came with the single “Desce Sobe” in 2016, which garnered significant online attention for its choreography and plays. Subsequent releases included “Cavalona” in 2022, a collaboration with Gabily blending trap beats and pagode baiano, and the 2022 track “Tubarão Te Amo” by DJ LK that returned them to the charts. Tchakabum maintained a presence through national performances and released the 2019 single “Passinho do Rá”.
