DJ Koo, born é«ç¨ æµ©ä¸ on August 8, 1961, in Tokyo, Japan, is a Japanese disc jockey, musician, and tarento. He began his career as a DJ at local discos. In 1986, he formed the remix unit The JG's with Hironobu Honda (dj honda) and Joji Otsuka, releasing their debut album The JG's in 1988. DJ Koo's breakthrough came with the formation of TRF in 1992, where he served as the leader and DJ. The group produced multiple million-selling singles, including "Impression of trf" and "EZ DO DANCE." Throughout his career, DJ Koo collaborated with various artists and groups, such as WEST 87, Phal, and WILL. He also contributed to anime soundtracks, notably Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live, where he appeared as a character named DJ.Coo. In addition to his musical endeavors, DJ Koo ventured into variety television, becoming a popular figure known for his humorous antics. His contributions to the music industry were recognized with various awards and collaborations, including his role as a guest professor at Osaka University of Arts in 2021. He has released some songs as contributions and solo work over the years, including "Happy Clap" (2019) and "æKOO DE DANCE" with BEYOOOOONDS in 2025.
