Biography

Susumu Yokota was a Japanese electronic music composer and disc jockey born on April 22, 1960, in Toyama. After studying economics and design, he began his career as a house DJ in the early 1980s. Yokota worked as a graphic designer while contributing to musical projects under aliases such as Stevia, Ebi, Prism, and Anima Mundi. He released his debut studio album, Frankfurt Tokyo Connection, in 1993. His subsequent recordings included Acid Mt. Fuji (1994), Cat, Mouse & Me (1996), and Sakura (1999). In 2000, he signed with the label Leaf and released the albums Zero (2000), Will (2001), Sound of Sky (2002), and Baroque (2004). His later discography featured Triple Time Dance (2006) and Psychic Dance (2009). Yokota’s final studio recordings were Kaleidoscope (2010) and Dreamer (2012). He died on March 27, 2015, following a long illness.
