Biography

American DJ an producer Daniel Lee Wherrett, professionally known as DJ Dan, was born in Olympia, Washington, on July 8, 1968. He was renowned for his dynamic blend of house, tech-house, and progressive sounds. Emerging from the vibrant Los Angeles electronic music scene in the early 1990s, he quickly became a staple in both club circuits and major music festivals worldwide. DJ Dan was celebrated for his high-energy sets, meticulous track selection, and ability to seamlessly mix genres while keeping dance floors engaged. In 1996, he partnered with Jim Hopkins, releasing "Loose Caboose" under the name Electroliners. In 2000, his own track "That Zipper Track" was released on four labels worldwide, and went on to sell over 100,000 copies on vinyl. In 2001, he created his own label, InStereo Recordings. He has released numerous acclaimed singles and remixes on prominent labels like Moonshine Music, Bedrock, and Moontribe, and has collaborated with artists such as Justin Martin, Pete Moss, and The Shapeshifters. Beyond studio work, DJ Dan has been a long-standing fixture at major festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Movement Detroit, earning a reputation as a crowd-pleasing performer. On March 29, 2026, it was announced that Daniel Wherrett had died at the age of 57.
