Biography
Dino, Desi & Billy are an American singing trio formed in 1964, consisting of Dean "Dino" Martin, Desiderio Arnaz IV, and Billy Hinsche. Their initial breakthrough came when they auditioned for Frank Sinatra, who had an interest in Reprise Records, the recording label for Dean Martin. Their first single "I'm a Fool" was released in 1965 and reached number 17 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The trio's other notable hit from that year was "Not the Lovin' Kind", which peaked at number 25. Following this success, Dino, Desi & Billy toured as an opening act for various artists, including the Beach Boys and Paul Revere & the Raiders. Their debut album Two In The Afternoon was released in 1967, followed by Tell Someone You Love Them in 1968. Despite releasing records for five years, they did not achieve another top 40 hit after 1965. The group contributed three songs to the soundtrack of the surf film Follow Me in 1969 and disbanded later that year due to Desi Arnaz Jr.'s involvement with his mother's television show and Billy Hinsche's university studies. In 1996, Sundazed Music released The Rebel Kind: The Best of Dino, Desi & Billy, compiling all of the group's singles and non-cover material for the first time.
