Fernando de Ouro Preto, aka Dinho Ouro Preto, is a rock vocalist from Brazil who came to fame as the lead singer of rock/punk band Capital Inicial, which he joined after an audition in 1983. Prior to this, as the son of diplomat Ambassador Affonso Celso de Ouro Preto, the young Preto had travelled widely including a formative period in Switzerland where he was exposed to rock music. Returning to Brazil saw him introduced to punk via The Ramone's highly-influential 'End of the Century' LP and also to local band Electric Abortio'. When that band broke up, the two main members, Did and Flávio Lemos, formed Capital Inicial and recruited Preto. For the next decade Capital Inicial released popular recordings and toured. However, in 1993 Preto announced that he was leaving the band. He decided to study music and in 1994 he released his first solo album Vertigo' with little success commercially or critically. He followed this in 1995 with his eponymous second album. Three years later, to mark the 15th anniversary of the formation of Capital Inicial, Preto rejoined his former bandmates on tour and then on a new album. Since then Preto has released one further solo album, 2012's 'Black Heart' but has concentrated on working with the band.
