The Rixdorf Singers, a German vocal group active in the 1960s and 1970s, were known for their nostalgic interpretations of contemporary German schlager music from the German Empire and Weimar Republic eras. The group was formed in Germany around 1960 and included members such as Karl Golgowsky, Hans-Joachim Kipka, Kurt Stephan, and Richard Gatermann. Their name references Rixdorf, a former Berlin district renamed Neukölln in 1912, known for its vibrant entertainment scene. The group's breakthrough came with the release of their first five numbered EPs in 1960, which reached Number 17 on the German charts and remained there for five months. In 1963, these EPs were compiled into the album Erinnern Sie Sich? (50 Schlager Von Einst), which peaked at Number eight on the German charts and stayed in the charts for over two years. This debut album was a significant commercial success, reaching the top 26 of West Germany's Longseller chart for 1963 and remaining in the top 48 for 1964. Their music, characterised by faster jazz and swing tempos, often required skilled dancers. The group's final album, Schlager aus der guten alten Zeit, was released in 1984.
