Biography

Lassie Singers were a German indie pop ensemble from Berlin active between 1988 and 1998. The group was established by Christiane Rösinger, Almut Klotz, Heiner Weiß, Kathrin von Witzleben, and Funny van Dannen. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style blending Hamburger Schule and Neue Deutsche Welle elements with lyrics addressing gender relations. Their recording career began with the studio recording Die Lassie Singers helfen Dir (1991), which featured the tracks “Mein Freund hat mit mir Schluß gemacht” (1991) and “Falsche Gedanken” (1991). They achieved professional recognition for the track “Es ist so schade” (1994), which reached number 24 on the Austrian charts. Their discography includes the studio recordings Sei À Gogo (1992), Stadt, Land, Verbrechen (1994), and Hotel Hotel (1996). The ensemble became inactive in 1998.
