Biography
Die Gitarreros was a German rock group formed in 1986 by festival organizers Michael Höft and Detlev Haak of Rock für den Frieden. The ensemble gathered guitarists from prominent East German bands, including Jürgen Ehle, Uwe Hassbecker, Bernd Römer, Gisbert Piatkowski, and HansâJürgen Reznicek, joined by drummer Stefan Dohanetz, keyboardist Ullrich Swillms, and singer Toni Krahl, Tamara Danz, Herbert Dreilich, and Mike Kilian. Their debut performance occurred at the Rock for Peace festival in the Palast der Republik, followed by a successful tour. In 1986, the group released the live album Itâs Only RockânâRoll â Die Gitarreros live im Konzert on Amiga, featuring tracks such as "Freitag" and "Blumen aus Eis". The band continued to perform until 1989, delivering a repertoire that blended hits from their parent bands with international rock standards.
