Biography

Die Chefs, a German band from Hamburg, was founded in 1982 by composer and singer Patrick Heischrek. The band emerged during the Neue Deutsche Welle movement but distinguished itself with a unique sound featuring drums, bass, and synthesizers. Their sole album Keine Emotionen bitte! was released in 1982 under the Risiko label, accompanied by the single "Trabant". Die Chefs' lyrics were known for their ironic and provocative nature, which sparked controversy. The band's concert on May 27, 1982, at the Hamburger Club Logo was disrupted by a demonstration led by the women's group of the Hamburger AStA, resulting in police intervention and threats to the musicians. Despite attempts at dialogue, Die Chefs faced a smear campaign labeling them as fascist and misogynistic, leading to the seizure of their album by the Amtsgericht Hamburg. The band disbanded later that year due to these controversies.
