Biography

Richard Parry, born 22 December 1942 in Kentford, Suffolk, was an English saxophonist who began his career with the mid‑1960s Cambridge band the Soul Committee. He became a sought‑after session player, contributing saxophone to Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) on "Money" and "Us and Them", and later adding parts to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" on Wish You Were Here (1975) and "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell (1994). He toured with Pink Floyd from 1973 to 1977 and again on the 1994 world tour, appeared on the Who’s 1979–80 tours, and recorded with David Gilmour on David Gilmour in Concert (2002). Dick Parry also played on Banco de Gaia’s Big Men Cry (1997) and toured with the Violent Femmes in 2009. He died 22 May 2026 at 83.
