Der Plan, a German electronic music band, was founded in 1979 in Düsseldorf by Moritz Reichelt alias Moritz R®, Kai Horn, and Frank Fenstermacher. The group is recognized as one of the pioneers of Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave). Their first single was released on their own label Warning Records, which was later named Ata Tak. Kurt Dahlke alias Pyrolator joined soon after, influencing the group to adopt a more musical approach. Their debut album Geri Reig (1980) showcased experimental sounds with influences from The Residents and Kraftwerk. The single "Da vorne steht âne Ampel" became one of the first hits of Neue Deutsche Welle in 1980, leading to offers from major labels, which Der Plan declined. In 1984, they released the singles "Gummitwist" and "Golden Cheapos", which marked a shift towards easy-listening and lounge music. The band reformed as Der Plan 4.0 in 2003, releasing Die Verschwörung (2004) and continuing with albums like Unkapitulierbar (2017).
