Biography

German band De-Phazz is one of the fathers of the electro jazz movement, originally known as nu jazz. With a drum 'n' bass orientation at its inception in 1997, De-Phazz soon opened wide the doors to jazz, Latin, soul and easy listening inspirations, precursors of the lounge sound. The project's mainstay, producer Pit Baumgartner, has masterfully produced albums that have become classics, such as Death by Chocolate (2001), Plastic Love Memory (2002), Daily Lama (2002), and Days of Twang (2007). Little-known in his own right, De-Phazz has made a name for himself with guest appearances on numerous compilations, including the prestigious Buddha Bar and Hôtel Costes series. De-Phazz is also featured on the first volume of Verve Remixed in 2002. In June 2012, the variable-geometry group released the summer album Audio Elastique.
