Hatice Deniz Tekin, known professionally as Deniz Tekin, was born on June 7, 1997, in İzmir, Turkey. She began playing piano and flute at age eight and joined local music groups during her secondary and high school years. At 16, she started performing live in small cafes and gained attention by sharing recordings under the nickname Daphead. In 2017, Deniz Tekin released her debut studio album Kozakuluçka, which included nine tracks and covers such as "Beni Vur" by Ahmet Kaya. She collaborated with Can Ozan on several songs and performed in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, and Antalya. In 2023, she released her second album Yüzyıllardır Aynı Dert. On February 13, 2024, Deniz Tekin announced her decision to quit her commercial music career.
